Wizard Tower Basic Information

Like the Mortar, this cool looking unit is one of the best in the game when it comes to wiping out large groups of troops in seconds. The similarities end there as the Wizard Tower damages both ground and aerial troops, and it can attack units up close to it as well.

All Wizard Tower levels, from 1 to 8, are all able to inflict some serious damage, allowing them to hold their own against strong troops with high health. In other words, a Wizard Tower vs Giants matchup is better as the defender than if you had Giants attacking your Mortar, whose slower rate of fire and blind spot make it very vulnerable in comparison.

The only drawbacks to these great units is that the Wizard Tower upgrade time and cost at even Level 1 is a good chunk of money. Nonetheless, they are certainly worth the investment if you want your village to have a formidable defense.

Wizard Tower Defense Strategy

Whether the matchup is Wizard Tower vs wizards or Wizard tower vs Balloons, this unit can do a lot of damage to both single units and groups of any type (ground or air). This is why they go great on the walls of your village and near Storages, allowing them to tear apart groups of Goblins and other Tier 1 enemies.

Wizard Towers are also great when paired with Mortars as they can cover each other’s vulnerabilities. While the Mortar takes out groups of foes at a distance, the Wizard protects them both from melee range attackers.


Wizard Tower Attack Strategy

No matter what kind of attack you launch, be it mostly ground or air troops, always note where strong Wizard Towers are and see if you can avoid them altogether. If not, use Giants to absorb damage while ranged units like Wizards and Archers chip away at its health. A large group of Barbarians can take out a Wizard Tower if there are enough, but usually they get eliminated easily if they become the target.

Balloons can also be taken out with only two or three shots from a Wizard Tower, which is why you should lead an aerial attack with Lava Hounds or a Dragon. If it comes down to it, it’s also not a bad idea to use a Freeze Spell on a well positioned Wizard Tower if it means avoiding an entire group from getting wiped out before they can destroy it.
